Culprits behind Multisystemic Covid - 19: Molecular Mimics and Rogue Antibodies

Abstract

COVID-19 is more than just a respiratory disease and manifests in multiple organs with severe clinical outcomes. Hypothesizing “autoreactivity” on the basis of multi-organ damage, a team from the Infection Biology lab explored the possible role of “molecular mimicry” in COVID-19 pathogenesis. Mugdha Mohkhedkar(Final year,Bioengineering,IIT Madras) will talk about what, how and why of the project, results obtained and what they mean in terms of tackling the disease in a better way (published in the Journal of Infectious Diseases and Molecular Immunology).
